  1. The caption for the photos of Will should read "1970's Barry Gibb hair. Ah, Ah, Ah, Ah, Stayin Alive...."

  2. Hello. I'm enjoying your blog.(I don't know if you remember me from a couple of inkings parties, Cara) I just want to say that the landscape around Christchurch looks just like wales, except for the snowy peaks in the distance. I mean SO much like wales it makes me feel homesick. Is that scrubby tussocky ground sprinkled with little sheep "nuggets"?

  3. Beth- I'm sure there's some sheep nuggets sprinkled in there but probably not in the volume you think. There's tons of gorse though which might be familiar. The early British settlers went to work to make the country a Britain of the south Pacific and by all accounts they did a pretty good job. They denuded most of the native bush, planted lots of willows, etc and brought in sheep and cattle by the boat load. It still has a majesty and grandeur and an element of a newer land that I think your homeland doesn't have. It's quite a stunning place, but in a different way than the British Isles. Thanks for keeping up with our adventure! Say hi to everyone.

  4. Yes, that's why Britain looks like it does, not many trees because they were all cut down to make ships hundreds of years ago, and then sheep keep any more trees from growing, so sheep nuggets abound. So for me, New Zealand, the south island particularly, would probably be a home from home, apart from the majesty and grandeur, and except for the huntsman spiders......
